Cardiologist in Dickinson, TX
We see Dickinson patients at our Texas City office in Mainland Medical Plaza, on Emmett F. Lowry Expressway. For most of Dickinson it’s the closer of our 2 offices, a straight run down Highway 3. Dr. Patel trained in interventional cardiology at Texas Heart Institute, so he can both find a narrowed artery and open it.
Your Nearest Office
From downtown Dickinson, take Highway 3 south to Emmett F. Lowry Expressway. The medical campus sits just off that intersection, and the drive is about 10 minutes without traffic. If you live west of I-45, take I-45 south to the Emmett F. Lowry Expressway exit and head east. From the east side of town, work over to Highway 3 and head south. Figure about 15 minutes from either edge.
Along the League City line near FM 646, our Clear Lake City office is only a few minutes farther. Book at whichever is easier from home or work.
The Texas City office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 to 5, and most heart testing happens there. Cardiac catheterization (threading a thin tube through a blood vessel to the heart) and stenting (placing a small mesh tube to prop a narrowed artery open) aren’t done in the Texas City office. If you need one, we’ll tell you where it’s scheduled. Our homepage lists the conditions we treat and the tests and procedures we offer .
Insurance
We accept most major plans, and the full list is in the insurance section of our homepage . Networks change, so call the office to confirm your plan before your visit.
Emergency Care in Dickinson
When you’re not having symptoms, it helps to know where the closest hospital emergency rooms are. For central and north Dickinson, and the neighborhoods west of I-45, that’s UTMB Health League City Campus, at 2240 Gulf Freeway South in League City. From the south and east sides of town, HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland, at 6801 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway in Texas City, is closer. Both emergency departments are open 24 hours a day.
If either ER sends you home after chest pain with instructions to see a cardiologist, call us once you’re home and give the front desk the follow-up window on your discharge papers. Bring those papers to the visit. If your ECG (a tracing of the heart’s electrical activity) and blood work aren’t in the packet, ask the ER for a copy.
Call the office instead of the ER for symptoms that are new but not sudden, such as breathlessness on stairs that wasn’t there last month or ankles that swell more each week. That applies only when there’s no chest pain, no fainting or near-fainting, and no severe shortness of breath.
